About Us

Midlands Citizens for Life is a chapter of SC Citizens for Life, affiliated with the National Right to Life Committee.  The Midlands chapter is a single-issue pro-life organization promoting the sanctity of innocent human life from conception to natural death.  Midlands Citizens for Life accomplishes its goals through the legal and peaceful means of education and legislation intended to stop abortion and to protect the medically vulnerable members of our human family -- the disabled, the elderly, the poor, and the chronically sick -- from death by euthanasia.  The National Right to Life Committee, the nation’s largest pro-life group, is a federation of affiliates in all 50 states and 3,000 local chapters nationwide.

Midlands Citizens for Life typically meets every third Monday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Ellis E meeting room of First Baptist Church, located at 1306 Hampton St, in downtown Columbia.  Participants can park on the Washington St side of the Church (handicap parking is available) and enter the church through four white doors under the blue awning on the southwest side of the church (these are the doors adjacent to the parking lot - not the ones adjacent to Washington St).  As you enter the doors, turn right, go to the end of the hall, take a left, pass a welcome desk, and enter the meeting room.

Pennies for Babies Campaign

Midlands Citizens for Life invites individuals, churches, groups or organizations to participate in PENNIES for BABIES.  As an ongoing effort to respect human life from conception, we are instituting a permanent fundraiser throughout the year to protect innocent human lives and to uphold the sanctity of life given by God.

Each penny added to others will make an appreciable difference for the least of these, the unborn. Midlands Citizens for Life will be able to purchase and disseminate educational literature and baby models.  All we are asking for is pennies, but if others wish to make larger donations, it can be tax deductible with checks made out to: “SC Citizens for Life – Educational Fund” with the memo stating “Midland’s Chapter.”

Prepared containers are available for use, along with literature, showing the size of a preborn baby equivalent to the size of a penny.  To avoid conflict with other projects, such as Daybreak’s Baby Bottle Project, we will remove our containers during that emphasis time period.

Celebrations for Life

Midlands Citizens for Life announces a Pro-Life awareness campaign to the public, “Celebrations for Life.“  This is a unique way to bring awareness to the Pro-Life cause throughout the year.

The Celebrations for Life program would work in the following way: Instead of or in addition to asking for material gifts, persons interested in advancing the Pro-Life cause would ask their friends and family to make a donation to Midlands Citizens for Life.  The amount of money that people spend on gifts, going out to dinner, etc., would be a wonderful opportunity to help the Midlands Chapter purchase educational supplies, sponsoring and participating in community and fund raising events.
